Ajmal's stunning wicket-keeping guided PPC Tigers to semi-finals in the ongoing RMI Media Cricket League being played at Hasnain Shaheed Higher Secondary School No 1 Peshawar City ground here on Wednesday. Ajmal got six catches behind the stumps while diving to his right and left and played a key role in his team success against PPC Darwash, the leader of the group-A.

PPC Tigers skipper Tariq Afaq won the toss and elected to bat first by setting up 99 runs target with Irfan Yousafzai made 28 runs including four boundaries, Ajmal made a quick-fire 20 runs with four boundaries and Rehan Yousafzai made 19 runs including three boundaries. For PPC Darwash Fawaz Shinwari claimed four wickets for just 11 runs in his three overs spell, Waqar and Waqas, the two Ws, took three wickets each.

In reply, PPC Darwash got a good start but Saad, skipper Tariq Afaq and Abid bowled well and did not give much room to the rival batsmen to strike. Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Junaid Khan was the chief guest on this occasion who gave away man of the match award to Ajmal for taking six catches.

He also announced Rs 50,000 to the Sports Committee of the Peshawar Press Club besides ensure provision of playing equipment. Chairman PPC Sports Committee Ihtisham Bashir, Coordinators Imran Yousafzai and Abid Khan and Secretary KP Sports Writers Association Asim Shiraz thanked DG Sports for extending all out support to the journalists communities.
